So, what's the big deal? A
subluxation just causes "pinched" nerves!
Well, if the nerve is for sensation, you may experience pain or numbness — that
can be bad enough. But what if that nerve goes to a muscle, your kidney,
or your heart? Subluxations are
often irritating or painful, but they can also be life threatening!
Interrupted nerve impulses
can cause all kinds of health problems... |
Our overall health depends on electrical
impulses. You might say, "without nerve impulses, life itself would
be impossible," and it's absolutely true. Billions of nerve
impulses course through our bodies every day. They could be compared to a
cellular phone call. Sometimes, when the signal is interrupted, it's
annoying, at best. Interrupted nerve impulses can cause all kinds of
other health problems, too, such as tight muscles, weak muscles and
inflammation. They could even cause dysfunctions in vital organs. In the
long run, if subluxations are not corrected they can also result in
physical damage to cartilage and bone, leading to compressed discs, bone
spurs and arthritis.
How do you get
subluxations?
There are three basic causes: · physical, like an accident, improper lifting
or repetitive motion; · emotional, as with stress, anger and fear;
· chemical, such as alcohol or drug abuse,
poor diet or pollution.
How do I know if
I have a subluxation?
You may have a subluxation and not even know it. Like
tooth decay or heart disease, they can be present without exhibiting any
symptoms or warning signs. A thorough examination can show their
location and severity.
Can subluxations
clear up on their own?
Yes, sometimes they can. Our modern lifestyles are a
constant source of physical, emotional and chemical stress. And,
therefore, they are a constant source of subluxations. Our bodies do
have the ability to self-correct, as it is their nature to heal
themselves. Sometimes, our own actions overcome our bodies tendency
and ability to self-correct. And when your body doesn't resolve its
subluxations, you need the assistance of a chiropractic doctor.
Can children get
subluxations?
Our first subluxation probably occurred at the moment of birth!
Childbirth, even the "modern" kind, puts tremendous stress on a baby's
spine. A baby's poor appetite, sleeplessness and unexplained crying
can be symptoms of spinal subluxations.
